The Wind of Remembrance

How is it that a God who created the world can care to know my small and simple heart? He soothes the raging storms, sings to life the spring flowers, and sifts the snows upon the tallest mountaintops. And yet, He knows and loves me.

As I hear the wind mingle with the trees outside my window, I am reminded how there is nothing quite like my love for the wind. The feeling of it whispering over your skin, and the sound of it wading through your hair, there is nothing like it in all the world. The invisible force that turns the wheels of the world into motion.  It is such the perfect picture of the Holy Spirit.

In times of sorrow, He is sweet and gentle, comforting and uplifting like a tender breeze. When I call upon Him surrounded by fears and foes, He bursts through with the power of a hurricane scattering all that came against  me. He gives me the push I need in times of doubt. When I cannot see, He leads me with a gentle nudge.

He is the wind that breathes life into souls, and light into spirits. He is an ever faithful God who does not cease to notice us.

How easily we feel forgotten or overlooked, and yet we are the apple of his eye, the very focus of his loving power. All it takes to remember this is to look out  your window.  This world, all of creation, was made for you. It is meant to serve as a constant reminder that though the wind howls and the ground shakes, we are the Father’s beloved.

Sometimes I don’t feel my worth, but all it takes is one step outside into the blanket of the breeze and I am reminded of his promises.

“I only speak truth” (Isaiah 45:19)

“My steadfast love shall not depart from you,” (Isaiah 54:10)

“I will fight for you; you need only to be still” (Exodus 14:14)

“I have engraved you on the palms of my hands” (Isaiah 49:16)

“I am praying for you” (Romans 8:26)

“Nothing can separate you from me” (Romans 8:37)

“I have spoken, and I will bring it to pass; I have purposed, and I will do it.” (Psalm 46:11)

Beloved child, you are noticed. You are sought after. You are desired. You are beautifully created. You are brave. You are unique. You are precious to the  LORD, yes the same Lord that loved David. The same Lord that spoke to Moses. The same Lord that promised Abraham a future. The same Lord that walked on water with Peter. The same Lord that opened the doors of Heaven to John. The same Lord that cradled Daniel in the lion’s den. The very same Lord that sacrificed his life to save the life of Barrabas, the murderer. This same Lord is the Lord that prays to the Father that He might rescue you. The same Lord who prays for your heart to take courage and have hope. The same Lord that laughs at your silly quirks. The same Lord that smiles down on you when you talk to Him at night. This Lord is taken by you, sweet child. He is the one who calls you His beloved son or daughter. You are his absolute love.

I pray that you feel your worth in this moment. I pray that you feel the weight of this eternal glory, this unimaginable truth. This is fact: You are beloved of the God of the universe. Don’t doubt your worth, child.

You are beloved.
